Dr. S Vijayan Pillai

Dr. S Vijayan Pillai received his M. Tech. in Integrated Circuits and System Engineering from IIT, Kharagpur in the year 1995 and PHD in Electronics from Cochin University and Science and Technology (CUSAT). He started his career in Indian Air Force as an Airman. After a short stint, he joined DRDO as Scientist B in the year 1989. Since then, he had worked in various capacities starting from system designer, system user, maintainer, circuit designer, project coordinator to mission mode programme director for various sonar systems. Two times, he received the DRDO Agni Award for excellence in self-reliance in the years 1998, and in 2008. He is a fellow of Institution of Engineers India, The Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers, Life member of Indian Society of Systems for Science and Engineering and Ocean Society of India. He retired as an Outstanding Scientist and Director of Naval Physical and Oceanographic Laboratory (NPOL), Kochi of DRDO. Currently working as Technical Director of Kerala State Electronics Development Corporation. He is also consultant to IIT Delhi for Underwater Domain Awareness and professor of practice in CUSAT.
