The department conducts two national symposiums as a biennial event. The national symposium series on Antenna and Propagation (APSYM), commenced from the year 1988, and the symposium on Ocean Electronics (SYMPOL) from 1991. Department also conducted a National Seminar on Artificial Neural Network and Cognitive Systems (ANCS). The proceedings of each of the above symposia are also being published from the department. The national reputation held by the department also attracts numerous sponsored research projects.
The department also hosts annual events like Open House where the facilities of the department is exhibited and explained to the public. ELSIP is another program which is aimed for giving students at the undergraduate level to visit our lab and have hands-on experience on their interested experiments.
International Symposium on Ocean Technology (SYMPOL 2019)
The 15th Symposium on Ocean Technology, 2019 (SYMPOL 2019) organised by Department of Electronics, Cochin University of Science and Technology, Kochi, India is scheduled to be held from 11 - 13 December 2019. This is organized as a biennial program and the first symposium of the series was held in the Cochin University of Science and Technology, during 18 - 20 December 1991 to highlight the formal opening of the Centre for Ocean Electronics established in the Department of Electronics as a joint venture of the University Grants Commission and Ministry of Human Resource Development (Government of India). Antennas and propagation Symposium (APSYM 2018)
The 16th Antennas and Propagation Symposium (APSYM 2018) was organised by Department of Electronics, Cochin University of Science & Technology, Kochi, India during 3 - 5 December 2018. This biennial symposium started in 1988 is intended to provide extensive forums for the presentation of theoretical and experimental innovations in the field of electromagnetic wave Propagation and Antennas. This will expose the young talents to exciting innovations in the frontier fields of Electromagnetic waves and its applications. The technical sessions will give opportunities for the Scientists and Engineers to present their contributions to a group of Scientists in identical fields. The proceedings of the symposium will be distributed to the participants at the time of the symposium. Learn more about APSYM
Silver Jubilee Celebrations of CUCENTOL
The Cochin University Centre for Ocean Electronics (CUCENTOL) established in 1991 is completing 25 years of service in 2016. This centre could attract funding to the tune of Rs. 9.00 crores during the past 24 years of its existence in the form of Technology Development, R&D and Infrastructure Development Projects. A multi institutional mission mode project entitled, Sonic Characterisation of Marine Species, sponsored by the Ministry of Earth Sciences, Govt. of India, with CUSAT as the nodal agency and Indian Institute of Technology, New Delhi as participating agency is presently being pursued in this Centre.
